Member of the Month?

Well, after returning to the forums, getting used to everything and seeing what was new I realized that we have a member of the month award. At which point I was quite puzzled to see that nobody had won the award but that it was added, so I searched through the forums a little bit and I couldn't find a trace of any competition for the member of the month. So, I decided that come here to the lovely suggestions area and write this thread.

 

It would be amazing if you started the member of the month competition. I have seen some other forums which do the same competition and it turned out really well, not only does it promote people to be helpful but it also gives the community the ability to reward the user it believe is the most helpful. However there would need to be some guidelines so that this amazing competition doesn't go south... Such as:

 

• 
   
  
• Each person should only be able to win the award once.
  
• The users get to nominate the members that are voted on however the moderators would narrow it down to a select few. For example if 15 people are nominated the moderators would narrow it down to 5 people.
  
• Each person can only be nominated once per thread.
  
• No Nominating yourself.
  

 

Now these rules are the only ones I could think of off the top of my head however the staff at this forum is very intelligent I am sure they could improve this idea much more. I really hope you decide to implement the member of the month competition, it would be a fantastic way to get the community involved.

Now that's some great idea, I believe the admins are too lazy to do that, but I'll encourage Neo to at least setup the forums for it so I can take care of it.

- you can not make a new account to nominate yourself with

- you must be nominated by a member or staff

- you can not beg or ask other members to nominate you

- you must have atleast 20 posts to be nominated

I completely agree, I was going to list the you may not make another account to nominate yourself but I thought we had a rule which disallowed multiple accounts. The 20 posts is a very reasonable idea.

 

Also, something that I just thought about while I was picturing this coming into action would... Who do we label as staff and who do we label as members. VIP Support, 2nd Level Members, Coders... Staff or Member?

Well we have two awards a Member of the Month and a Staff of the Month. Should we allow staff to participate in the Member of the Month contest? Or keep them confined to the Staff of the Month contest. If we keep them confined to the Staff of the month Contest what is considered "Staff".

Everybody is able to nominate anybody, no need to label anybody.

 

Or Staff Members are excluded, that's another idea. Would be pretty unfair if I'm the only member of the month all the time

I actually like the idea a lot. I also thought about this some months ago but the forum activity is way to less. That would mean that we'll just have 3-5 members to nominate ( each month ) and thats it.

 

I'll keep it in mind but the forum activity needs to rise ( it may (hopefully) will now because new members are joining ) : )
